Point guard Ty Lawson averaged 12.7 points and 5.1 assists a game. If healthy, Lawson is one of the top point guards in the country. Versatile small forward Marcus Ginyard has played every position but center. Power forward Deon Thompson shot 48% from the floor on his way to 8.4 points a game. Shooting guard Wayne Ellington put up 16.6 points a game while shooting 40% from behind the three point line. All-American center Tyler Hansbrough scored 22.6 points a game while shooting 54% from the field and 81% from the free throw line. Hansbrough also pulled down over 10 rebounds a game. There is depth off the bench in guard Bobby Frasor and power forward Ed Davis. Seven footer Tyler Zeller could make an impact sooner or later. The fact that not one player opted for the NBA speaks loudly that the Tar Heels are on a mission to win the National Championship this year.
