College Rivalry Handicapping
Probably the most solid strategy of all is to take home underdogs in rivalry games. No matter how
poorly the season has gone, a team will get up when its hated rival comes to visit. I've found that
the favorites tend to take these games too lightly. They know they're the better team (or they
wouldn't be road favorites!). They assume it's going to be easy. And, watching game films from the
past few weeks doesn't change their minds. Once the game starts, they're a step or two slow in an all
out war...

NFL: Strength of Schedule
This year it's very important to monitor strengths of schedules when evaluating NFL teams. We have
more extreme differences in 2008 than at any time in the recent past. Let me illustrate this by
quickly running through three divisions. New England: Not nearly as strong as last year as
they've had to tone things down with an inexperienced quarterback. NY Jets: Sluggish so far
with an over-the-hill Brett Favre who throws too many interceptions and makes fewer big plays
